Swimming
Swimming for fun, health and safety!.... That's the motto of the Swimming Teachers' Association (STA) - the world's leading swimming teaching organisation.
Whether it is toddlers, those with disabilities, keen kids, or active adults, the STA has a role to play in ensuring everyone gets the most out of swimming.
Founded in 1932, the Association has a charitable status and aims to 'preserve lives by teaching swimming, life-saving and survival techniques.'
Over One Million Awards Annually
In the early years it was just a handful of like-minded swimming enthusiasts and teachers who lead the way.
Now, on average, our UK membership is so strong that there is probably at least one STA course being run at your local pool every term.
As a result, over one million people - mainly children - successfully complete and pass an STA award every year.
Membership is increasing and the STA is now highly regarded by and works with, most swimming groups from local authorities to independent organisations worldwide.
